Power's Legacy

The 24th Swiss edition of the European Heritage Days will take place on 9 and 19 September 2017 and will be dedicated to the topic "Power's Legacy".

Historical tour in the city, between the Roman Museum and the Castle of Nyon.

Start from the Roman Museum:

Guided tour on the Roman power in Nyon, by Véronique Rey-Vodoz, curator.

As a capital of a colony, Nyon had to handle the security and prosperity of the territory, as well as economy, trade and justice. These important responsabilities were entrusted to the magistrates, according to a political model, that reproduced, in a smaller scale, that of Rome. The changeover will take place in front of the "Ferme du Manoir", where Nyon's town council sits today.

Guided tour of the Castle, by Pauline Lesca, guide.

Property of the Savoy family, seat of the civil and military power  with the Bernese bailiffs from the 16th to the end of the 18th century, then seat of the political and legal power after the Canton de Vaud independance, the Castle stayed a symbol of great power until nowadays.

Fun, historic and whisled walk for children.

Whilst the guides accompany the adults, the children may go explore the traces of power in the city. Adapted and recreational, this paper chase throughout the city is lead by Fabienne Penseyre, a professional storyteller. If you come with the whole family, a challenge awaits...
