The Roman Museum, opened in 1979 five years after the discovery of the basilica in the Roman forum of Nyon, the venue for numerous events and exhibitions, was expanded in 1992 and is subject to regular modifications; making the most of the attraction it exerts it is a vibrant part of Nyon’s museum life alongside the Musée du Léman and near the recently renovated Castle.
The Nyon authorities committed to giving a new lease of life to this 30-year old institution in the form of a complete renovation, an attractive reworking of the museography providing an opportunity for showcasing a collection constantly enriched in the course of the last 20 years.
The museography was therefore re-thought and reformulated – from the organisation of the topics covered, to the signage, the lighting, the floors, the displays; all aspects of the Museum were revisualised in order to create a new atmosphere and showcase the foundation walls of the basilica, its centrepiece.
The Roman Museum celebrated its 40th Birthday. An ideal opportunity to celebrate, whilst putting forth a few monuments of the Roman past of Nyon, using digital technology!
