Thanks to its exceptional state of preservation, Pompeii offers a remarkable setting for studying Roman mural painting. Through the city\u2019s famous murals and the work conducted since 2018 by a Swiss team on fragments from the \u201cHouse of the Painters at Work,\u201d<\/em> this lecture invites you to step into the workshop of ancient painters and discover the various stages involved in creating a mural. <\/p>\n\n
From Italy to the provinces of the Empire, wall painting played a vital role in the decoration of Roman buildings.
