Amphitheatre: public presentation of the preservation and enhancement project

Thursday March 12, the Municipality invites the public to a public presentation on the future of this ancient site of national importance, followed by the opening of the second phase of the “Amphitheatre?

Meet us on Thursday March 12, 2026, at 6:15 pm, at the Salle du Conseil communal (Ferme du Manoir, rue Maupertuis 9). Registration is required to attend this presentation, which will give an insight into the progress of a major project for Nyon’s ancient heritage.

In particular, it will address the architectural, landscape and scenographic dimensions of the site. It will provide an overview of the studies carried out to date and the intentions retained for the enhancement of the monument. It should be noted that the project will be based on minimal and partly reversible intervention, respecting the integrity of the site’s high heritage value. It will aim to preserve the authenticity of the remains while making them accessible.

The amphitheatre will be designed as a living archaeological park, fully integrated into the city, open to encounters, transmission and contemplation. In this way, the project will make a lasting contribution to the everyday life of the people of Nyons.

The scenography will emphasize an immersive, educational approach. A mediation area will welcome groups, classes and conferences. The whole will offer great flexibility of use, without altering the existing site.

The evening continues at 7.30pm at the Roman Museum with the opening of the new contents of the evolving exhibition Amphitheatre? This second part of the exhibition will highlight the issues involved in preserving the monument and promoting it in the future.
