Lighting in Antiquity
What was life like in ancient times, when the sun had gone out and people found themselves inside their homes, public buildings or places of pleasure? How can we imagine that our predecessors could have lived, loved, laughed, worked, celebrated or gone to a show without the help of a light bulb, multicolored spotlight, chandelier, neon or halogen, but lit by small flames comparable to those of our candles or, at most, by torches or candelabras a little brighter?
