Cultivating a Roman garden

Gardens(horti), which generally adorned large Roman villas, were both decorative and practical. They played an important role in funerary rituals and provided a place to grow plants with medicinal and nutritional properties. This was particularly true of thyme, savory and lavender.

Come and discover the new plantings in the garden of the Roman Museum of Nyon and learn more about their history, their properties and how ancient horti work.
